Okayama is a prefecture located between Osaka and Hiroshima in Japan. In Okayama, the landscape still remains beautiful and the way of life has not much changed, where traditional ways, handed down from generation to generation, still exist. Especially in regards to Bizen pottery, where worldwide recognition for the beauty of the pottery is known. Bizen pottery is infused with Wabi-Sabi, essentially Japanese aesthetics associated with the spiritual mind of the Samurai.
Okayama is also known as the birthplace of Miyamoto Musashi, a very famous Samurai swordsman. The old town of Kurashiki still gives you the impression as if you were in an authentic Samurai town of medieval Japan.
This combination of Samurai culture and the beautiful scenic nature surrounding
the Yunogo Onsen resort area will leave a lasting experience from your travels in Japan. There are not too many places like Okayama left in Japan.

| Musashi-no-sato, the birthplace of Miyamoto Musashi There is a memorable old town whose primary interest is Miyamoto Musashi, a great Samurai swordsman from the past. A small sword museum is an attraction along with the grave of Miyamoto Musashi. There are a few restaurants offering Okayama food and cuisine, such as dishes with Sake and black beans. We recommend sampling the local cuisine. http://www.optic.or.jp/musashi/ |
